How to Send Fax to US from Your iPhone
US fax numbers follow the same format as US phone numbers. The country code is +1. After that come a three-digit area code and a seven-digit number. That's ten digits after the +1, every time.
Canada uses the same system. A Toronto fax number looks just like a Chicago one. To an iPhone fax app, they're the same kind of call.
Read the number off the form
Offices write fax numbers in all sorts of ways:

+1 212 555 0147

All five are the same number. In Cheapfax, type it any of those ways. The app strips the punctuation and adds the +1 if you leave it off. A green check mark shows when it reads as a valid number.
If the check mark doesn't appear, count the digits. The most common slip is a missing area code. Local offices often print only seven digits.
Make sure it's a fax line
Offices list a phone number and a fax number side by side. They're easy to swap. A fax sent to a voice line rings, someone picks up, and the call fails.
If you aren't sure, call the number. A fax line answers with a high-pitched tone.
Sending from outside the US
Cheapfax sends to US and Canadian numbers. It doesn't care where your phone is. You can be traveling abroad and still fax a form to an office in Ohio. You only need an internet connection.
It can't send to numbers outside the United States and Canada.
The send
Open Cheapfax and tap New fax. Scan the document, pick a PDF from Files, or choose photos. Enter the fax number. Check the pages with Preview fax.
Tap Send. The button shows the page count and the price before you pay.
What it costs
50¢ per page, anywhere in the US or Canada. Long distance costs the same as local. There's no monthly fee.
Credits you buy and don't use stay on your account. They don't expire.
After it's sent
The status screen tracks the fax until it's delivered. You get a receipt with the delivery time, the number it went to, and the page count.
If the line is busy or doesn't answer, the fax service dials again. If every try fails, the fax is marked failed. The pages go back to your account as credits automatically. Confirm the number with the office and send again.
Save numbers you use often
After you enter a number, tap Save. Give it a name, like "Dr. Patel's office." Next time, tap Choose from address book instead of typing ten digits.
